Q 01. What is Lavasa?
Lavasa is India's first planned hill city being developed by HCC (Hindustan Construction Company). Located in the picturesque landscape of the Sahayadri Mountains, Lavasa is spread over 25,000 acres of land situated around the 20 km long Warasgaon Lake. It has been conceptualized keeping in view the Government of Maharashtra's aim to develop the state's tourism. In the proximity of Mumbai and Pune, Lavasa is a complete hill city that is being developed in a planned manner using Geographic Information System (GIS). Lavasa is a self contained world including apartments and villas planned around town centers using the New Urbanism transact model. Q 02. How long does it take to reach Lavasa from Mumbai and Pune?
On a normal traffic day, it takes around 3 hours to reach Lavasa from New Bombay. From Chandni Chowk (Pune), it takes around one hour to reach Lavasa. It is around an hour and a half drive from Pune International airport.

Q 03. What is the current status of development at Lavasa?
The first town of Lavasa is Dasve, which is ready for occupation. While basic infrastructure is already complete, work is at an advanced stage of development of Villas, Apartments and all tourism, health, leisure, education facilities in Lavasa. The access road from Pune to Lavasa has been constructed. Dasve dam, a permanent water body, is ready. Close to 75 apartments, town hall, a four star Fortune Select Dave, commercial centre and around 16 sub-stations are in an advanced stage of completion. Infrastructure works in the valley such as water supply, water treatment plant and intake well structures are commissioned. Education and health facilities are underway. Dasve town will be open for occupation by 2010.

NSHM Knowledge Campus will set up India's first Retail, Media & Thinking Management University at Lavasa. Institute of International Business Relations (IBR), the premier business school in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and a part of the University of Berlin, is also setting up its campus at Lavasa.
